6 TIPS TO DETERMINE AN ORIGINAL BATIK

Didn’t you know? There’s fake Batik everywhere, making it harder and harder for people to spot which is which. Don’t worry because we have the tips and tricks to spot the difference. Psst but if you are too lazy to go through all that work just know whether the batik is original or not, just visit any of Noor Arfa’s outlet, they only sell the original handmade batik.

  1. Checking Both Sides

Check the material front and back, if it’s original you will notice the colours will be as vibrant front and back. As for the fake on the front the colour would be vibrant but on the back the colour would seem to fade or it would be completely white.

  1. Touch and Smell

Next you’ll have to smell and feel the batik. If it has a distinctive odour of wax and has a durable texture, it is original batik. If it smells like oil and feels too soft, it is not original batik.

  1. The Colour

Original Batik has natural colour, vibrant and solid. Whereas, the printed batik does not have natural, opaque and not solid colours.

  1. The Design

If you look properly at the design of an original handmade batik you will notice the outlines of the design are not so perfect, particularly the thickness of the lines. As for the printed batik, the designs and outline is almost too perfect which eliminates the value of the art. Plus, the original batik you wear will be the only unique one.

  1. Stocks

You’ll notice the printed batik will have many stocks with many colours of the same design to choose from. Original batik has very limited stocks for a certain design, with limited colours to choose from.

  1. Price

Yes, you’ll notice the price of the printed batik is more reasonable but if you really know the work put into making a handmade batik, it takes a week to take just one batik. In addition, the tools and ingredients used are all imported.
